Chinese Assaulted

Police inquiries into the assault on two Chinese market gardeners at Chumbrumba, near Yungaburra, on January 15, have not been discontinued. However, the police are hampered by the fact that rain fell shortly after the deed was committed, and also by the absence apart from the victims of any witnesses of the occurrence. Two men suspected in connection with the offence were detained by the police, but owing to the unsatisfactory nature of the identification no charge was preferred against them.
